I saw a couple of posts on Facebook over the last few weeks about how Spectrum Cable was going to go all-digital. In our most recent bill, there was a notification that this would be happening. I swear it said it would be starting on March 1st. But even that, was not enough notice in my opinion. Well, today (Feb.27th), Spectrum has pulled the plug on their analog broadcast and has gone completely digital. I guess the company has also been running ads in the legal section of local newspapers, but I can't tell you the last time I actually picked up a newspaper. Today, I turned the TV on in The Whale Studio and found the message pictured above on the screen. It says that you would need either a digital box, a CableCARD (whatever that is) or a Spectrum receiver on every TV in your home to get their service.

We have 11 TVs in our house. Yes, 11 TVs. All of them are hooked up to Spectrum Cable and 7 of them have DirecTV receivers hooked to them as well. 8 of them are located in my bar in my basement for football season and hockey season. Of the 11 TVs, only 6 of them are high def so I don't think it would be worth putting boxes on them.

I'm going to have to call them later today and figure out what I am going to do. Judging by all the nasty complaints on Facebook today, I'm guessing I will be on hold for quite some time.

Isn't technology a wonderful thing?
