The Michigan State Spartans overwhelmed the Binghamton Bearcats 100-47 on Sunday evening at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.  The Spartans were up 54-23 after the first half and outscored BU 46-24 in the second half.

The Spartans overall size and quickness were too much for the Bearcats to handle.  Michigan State spread its scoring around with five players hitting for double figures.  The Spartans were led by Xavier Tillman's 17 points and eight rebounds.  Preseason All-American Cassius Winston also scored 17 points.  He played despite learning of his brother's death the night before.

Binghamton had two players score in double figures.  Sam Sessoms notched 12 points and Richie Caldwell, Jr netted 11 points.  The Bearcats were held to 30 percent shooting from the floor and 30 percent from three-point range.

The Bearcats travel to New York City to face Columbia University at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Binghamton plays it home opener against Sacred Heart University on Saturday afternoon at the Events Center.  The BU women host Niagara University at 2 PM followed by the men's 4 PM start.
