I watched the 2 hour selection Sunday on television, and as they got to the final brackets I did a double take as they announced Syracuse was in the NCAA Tournament as the number 10 seed.

Syracuse went 19-13 for the season but went 4 and 5 without their legendary head coach Jim Boeheim who received a nine game suspensions from the NCAA for violations within the team.

The NCAA Tournament committee took that into consideration, when they chose the team as the 10th seed in the east bracket.

Jim Boeheim said this was a difficult but despite losing the last two games of the regular season, and going down in the first round of the ACC Tournament to Pittsburgh, Syracuse had 5 wins this season over top 30 teams.

The team will be tested as they face the number 7 seed in the eastern Bracket, the Dayton Flyers.(25-7)

These two teams met in the NCAA tournament two years ago when the Flyers defeated the Orange 55-53

Coach Archie Miller Dayton playing well in his fifth year as head coach, he has a 115-54 record, and the teams third consecution NCAA Tournament.

The Flyers have a lot of experience on their Junior Senior roster, including their leading scorer Charles Cooke, Dayton is 4 and 0 against power 5 teams

Dayton and Syracuse will tip off this Friday March 18th at 12:15pm.

The last time the Orange were unranked and in the NCAA was 2003 and Syracuse fans know what happened that year.

Go Orange!
