Police say a man was pronounced dead after he shot himself inside a medical facility in the town of Union.

Authorities say the incident happened around 10 a.m. Monday at Endwell Family Physicians at 415 Hooper Road.

According to New York State Police, the 55-year-old man entered the reception area of the offices but was not checked in. He then went past the receptionist into another room.

After a "loud bang" was heard, police and an ambulance were sent to the scene, where the man was pronounced dead.

Police say the man made no threats and no one else was injured in the incident.
