"Lost" Truck Causes Chaos in Chenango Bridge Neighborhood

A tractor-trailer driver trying to avoid a construction zone wound up creating a lot of trouble in a residential section of the Town of Chenango.

Authorities say a truck turned onto Trafford Road in Chenango Bridge because of a project on Upper Front Street. The big rig struck and uprooted a large tree on Councilman Road.

The tree became lodged between the tractor and trailer. The truck continued on Councilman Road and onto Savitch Road, striking power lines and damaging electrical hookups to several homes.

New York State Police reported there apparently were no injuries linked to the incident, which happened around 9 p.m. Monday. No information was released on the driver's identity or whether tickets were issued.
