A Laceyville man is dead after hitting a deer in Bradford County.

Pennsylvania State Police say 59-year-old Robert Ermisch was riding a motorcycle east on Route 6, just east of Canyon Road in Wyalusing at 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 when he encountered a deer in the road.

Investigators say evidence at the scene indicates Ermisch attempted to apply the brakes on his Harley-Davidson Electra Glide in time but was unable to do so.  The motorcycle hit the animal and Ermisch was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say the Laceyville man was not wearing a helmet.
