Jimmy Dean Sausage Recall; Product May Contain Metal
According to the USDA, over 29,000 lb of Jimmy Dean Frozen Ready-to-Eat Sausage Links are being recalled after at least five people reported finding metal in the sausage.
The United States Department of Agriculture said the recall is for 23.4-ounce pouches of "Jimmy Dean Heat 'n Serve Original Sausage Links Made with Pork and Turkey".
The packages have a code of A6382168 and have a use by date of Jan. 31 19, with the timestamp range of 11:58 through 01:49. The packages under recall also have an establishment number EST. 19085.
We're not sure if any of these sausages have made it to the Binghamton area because the complete list of retail stores has not been made available yet. But, the USDA reports that the links were shipped to Tennessee where they were then distributed to retail stores.
If you have any questions you can call the Jimmy Dean customer service line at 855-382 3101. The USDA warns if you have these sausage links in your freezer, not to eat them and return them to where you bought them.
Obviously, biting on metal can cause damage to your teeth and cut the inside of your mouth. Not to mention the damage it can do internally, and I imagine it could do some damage on the way out as well.
I love sausage, but it's not worth the risk, So even though there's a good chance that the contaminated sausage won't make it to the Binghamton area, it's better to be safe than sorry. So check the package if you purchased this item.
