In order to best reflect the best states to live in, 51 'key indicators of livability' were utilized to compare the 50 states. Things like quality of life, affordability, safety and education all came into play.
At number 9 with a total score of 58.17, New York pulled the number 1 ranking for quality of life, 5th for safety and 18th for education and health.
Not surprising, New York did come in 47th for affordability, and dead last when it comes to homeownership rate. Also likely not surprising, New York was tied for first with California, Texas and Florida for most restaurants per capita.
