TOI Receives Funds To Improve Older Adult Living Conditions
Good news from Tioga County. Today, March 13, 2026, turned out to be lucky for Tioga Opportunities, Incorporated (TOI).
TOI announced that it has been awarded funding that will enhance the safety, accessibility, and independence of older adults living in the county.
$200,000 in funding is earmarked for TOI through the NYS Division of Homes and Community Renewal’s RESTORE program, which stands for Residential Emergency Services to Offer Home Repairs to the Elderly.

According to the announcement from Tioga Opportunities, Incorporated, the funding will help to provide emergency home repairs for older adults, such as a lack of water or heat, leaking roofs or pipes, or issues with water heaters or well pumps.
With programs like RESTORE and Access to Home, we can address urgent safety needs, make homes more accessible, and help people remain independent where they feel most comfortable. Every repair and update allows our customers to stay connected to their neighborhoods, continue their daily routines, and enjoy life at home. - Chet Babcock, Director of Energy Services
Also, TOI announced that it has also been awarded $150,000 for Access to Home. This program is designed to make homes safer and more accessible for individuals with documented limitations caused by a disability.
That could mean wheelchair ramps and lifts, handrails, doorway widening, and roll-in showers, all to help residents navigate their homes safely and easily.
Tioga Opportunities, Incorporated, notes that TOI’s mission is to empower individuals and families to live safely, independently, and with a better quality of life.
