New Wine Tasting Facilities Planned in Owego and Endicott
A Broome County business is planning an expansion that will establish wine tasting rooms in Owego and in Endicott.
Amanda Janicki, site manager of Madrona Tasting Room in Chenango Forks, said work is underway to set up a new site at 208 Front Street in Owego.
The future tasting facility will be located where Las Chicas Taqueria had operated for 12 years. The restaurant closed last month.
Janicki said Madrona Tasting Room highlights different wineries, breweries, distilleries and cideries from across New York state. She said the Chenango Forks location will remain open. The Owego site will offer different items on its menu. It will have a deck seating area overlooking the Susquehanna River.
The original Madrona Tasting Room opened in 2020 where Black Bear Winery had operated for 17 years. It features live music on weekends and serves as an event venue.
While Janicki is focusing on the remodeling plans for the new Owego site, she is also looking ahead to opening a third tasting room. That location will be in the Little Italy neighborhood on Endicott's North Side.
Janicki said a new building is to be constructed at 101 Odell Avenue. The Endicott project received a boost with $271,000 in state funds provided through the award made for the village's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
The site, which now is a vacant lot, had been home to Tedeschi's Market for decades. The old building was torn down in 2016.
