Demolition Crew Takes Down Old "Endwell Pub" Building

A small piece of an Endwell neighborhood's history has disappeared with the removal of a structure that had housed a series of taverns over the years.

The building at 3109 Watson Boulevard had been home to the Endwell Pub for a time. After that, it was briefly occupied by establishments known as Braintree and Watson Pub.

Before the Endwell Pub opened at the site, the property was used as a single-family residence.

The town of Union Local Development Corporation approved a grant of about $12,000 to cover most of the cost of demolishing the vacant building.

Property owner Robert Salamida in 1984 proposed constructing a multi-unit apartment building on the site but that project didn't go forward.

Now that the existing structure has been removed and the lot is being cleared, Salamida is considering his options for the property. He told WNBF News he hasn't made a decision on what might be done with the site.

A neighbor said the unused building had become a nuisance in recent years with unauthorized people holding parties or sleeping inside the place. He was pleased the structure was gone. He said: "I think it's awesome... It'll improve the neighborhood."
