The three-acre Endicott site where the beloved Felix Roma & Sons bakery had operated for several decades has a new owner.

Eugene Roma, the owner of the iconic business, last spring announced the bakery would close at the end of May. The company employed about 25 people at the time.

Roma had told WNBF News that the move to shut down the family business was "very emotional" but he did not say why it was closing.

Roma could not be reached for comment on the sale of the property.

The property on South Page Avenue has been sold for just over $1 million to National Pipe & Plastics. The industrial firm moved its headquarters from Vestal to West Endicott in 2021.

A National Pipe & Plastics office building is located just north of the Felix Roma property. The company operates a factory which makes polyvinyl chloride pipes to the west of its headquarters complex.

National Pipe & Plastics president Matt Siegel was not available Thursday to discuss the company's plans for the property that had been owned by Felix Roman for the past 55 years.

A decade ago, some West Endicott residents unsuccessfully fought the plan by National Pipe & Plastics to move its manufacturing operations from Vestal to West Endicott.

The factory opened in 2014. Eight years later, the company purchased an adjacent site where an abandoned Endicott Johnson factory was located. The old structure was torn down to clear the way for construction of the National Pipe corporate offices building.
