One of the things that everyone loves about the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open is the Friday night concert. For the longest time, it has been considered the social event of the year and a night not to miss.

One of the smartest things that the DSGO did was to bring country music performers to town beginning with Tim McGraw in 2013. With the exception of the Bon Jovi debacle in 2017, it's been country music every year since then.

This year, they decided to bring the Zac Brown Band back to the Open. They were here in 2014 and they came back for a second time and like a fine wine, they have gotten better with age.

Here I am hanging out with some fans on the grounds, I actually took 5 pictures until I got it right...sort of.

Zac Brown had the crowd rocking from the beginning to the very end. I had two favorite parts during the night. I LOVED it when he sang "Free" and in the middle, he started singing "Into the Mystic" and went back to "Free" at the end.

But if you ask me what my absolute favorite moment was, it would have to be near the end of evening during "Chicken Fried." When he started singing

I thank god for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don't have to sacrifice
All the things we love

Suddenly out of nowhere there was a service man standing at attention and saluting us. Zac took a moment to comment on the current situation in this great USA and then continued singing his first hit.

There was no encore and he didn't sing my favorite ZBB song "Goodbye in Your Eyes" or "Highway 20 Ride" but he did play "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" and "Whipping Post."

In 2014, Zac Brown helped Traci announce that she was going to have her first child and Bernhard Langer won the DSG Open. Would there be a repeat performance? Nope, Langer ended tied for 6th and 6 strokes behind the 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods Open winner, Padraig Harrington.

I can't wait to see who is coming next year for the 16th annual DICK'S Sporting Goods Open on Friday, June 23rd. What was your favorite part of the show?
