This week marks the start of the NCAA basketball tournament. Basketball fans will be glued to their TVs starting Thursday and for the next few weekends to come. Also, the playoff race is starting to heat up in the NBA. And as if that wasn't enough, it's also State Championship weekend for high school basketball. This weekend at the Floyd L Maine's Veterans Memorial Arena here in Binghamton, the New York State Boys High School Basketball Championships will take place. The first game is the quarter-finals for class D and they start at 9:30 Friday morning.

The only local school that is still in the running for a state championship is Seton Catholic Central. Their class B quarterfinal game will take place Friday at 5 p.m. If they win they will go on to play for the State Championship Saturday at 9 p.m. How cool would it be For Seton to win the State Title in their hometown?

If you are looking for something to do Friday and hopefully Saturday, you can go to the arena in downtown Binghamton, catch some great high school basketball, and root on the hometown Seton Catholic Saints. The complete schedule can be found on the NYSPHSAA website.
