While the college season is coming to a close in the next few weeks for students who attend Binghamton University and Broome Community College, there are millions of students all across the United States who are in the throes of trying to figure out where to attend college and the research crunch is on as they try to decide which school, and which state, will be the best fit for them in their secondary learning.

For a lot of those students, they're not just factoring in whether or not the college or university is good, but whether the state in which the institution is located is good for student life.

Studee ranked each of the 50 states to find out which state is best for students by comparing the cost of tuition fees, factoring in rent, board, what percentage of the population is made up of 19-25-year-olds, graduate salary, crime rates, happiness index scores, and more.

This year, Studee found that California is the best state for students with 15 high-ranking colleges and an overall happiness score (of college students ) of 63.14. Who would disagree? Sunshine and surf sound lovely doesn't it?

While New York might be a bit of a rough state for full-time residents to live in, it's a pretty great place for college students. In 2021, New York was ranked as the 5th best state for college students but in just one year, our ranking has shot all the way up to second place!
