Whoever said that nothing ever happens on the weekend in the Southern Tier is not paying attention. This weekend is Binghamton Parade Weekend featuring the Binghamton St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 5th also features Michael Ray at Touch of Texas, and "Sock Out Cancer" night with the Binghamton Black Bears.

Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day Parade

The celebration continues on Sunday, March 6th with the Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day Parade to benefit the "US FOR KIDS'" program. It begins at the Hillcrest American Legion, 363 West Service Road and goes southbound at 1 p.m.

The parade goes along Chenango Street, takes a right on Nowlan road, and ends at My Uncle's Place, 120 E. Arterial Highway.

The Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band, Philadelphia Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, Broome County Celtic Pipes and Drums along with many local Irish Dance groups are expected to be in it.

You can also look for me in the 98.1 Hawk cruiser. The weather looks wet but warm for this time of year with a good chance of rain and temperatures in the 60s.

US For Kids At Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day Parade

"US (Underwear and Socks) FOR KIDS" believes that all kids deserve to start every day with a fresh start and that begins with getting dressed. So when you come to the parade on Sunday, you are encouraged to bring new underwear and socks.

The US FOR KIDS float will take them for you or you can drop them off at My Uncle's Place (the bar, not my relative).  All the donations will be used to help kids in our area.

By the way, if you're looking for something to do after the parade in Hillcrest, I have the perfect suggestion. Just down the road at the Chenango Valley High School Auditorium is the final day for the musical called "Seussical."

It begins at 2 p.m and my daughter, Tara will be making her final appearance on the stage. Yes, tears will be flowing.
