In 1962
The Beatles released the single "Love Me Do," which made its radio debut on Radio Luxembourg to become the first time a Beatles tune was played on the airwaves.

In 1963
Bo Diddley performed on the BBC Radio's "Saturday Club."  Rolling Stones Brian Jones Charlie Watts, and Bill Wyman served as his backing musicians.

In 1966
Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding, and Mitch Mitchell performed together for the first time, creating the Jimi Hendrix Experience. (WOW, that lasted A LONG TIME..)

In 1968
Cream released the single "White Room." (It was more of a cream-white room)

The Who, the Small Faces, Joe Cocker, and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown launched a collaborative UK tour with a show in London.

In 1969
The Who performed on "The Ed Sullivan Show." (That had to hurt)

In 1970
Led Zeppelin released the album "Led Zeppelin 3." (and yet another creative album title was released)

Violinist Papa John Creach joined Jefferson Airplane.

In 1974
The Guess Who's "Clap For The Wolfman" peaked at number six on the pop singles chart. (I never knew The Wolfman had the clap)

Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" broke into the Top 40.

In 1985
Heart's "Never" broke into the Top 40.

In 1991
Guns N' Roses held the top two positions on the Billboard 200 chart, as "Use Your Illusion 2" debuted at number one and "Use Your Illusion 1" came in at number two.  Also, the band's "Don't Cry" broke into the Top 40. (and it was all downhill from there... Stupid Axel!)

In 1999
New releases included David Bowie's album "Hours," Melissa Etheridge's album "Breakdown," and Paul McCartney's album "Run Devil Run," which was the former Beatle's first disc since the death of his wife, Linda, nearly 18 months earlier.

In 2000
David Crosby was honored by the Musicians' Assistance Program for his success in his sobriety.  The organization helps professional musicians in the treatment of addiction problems. (He was awarded by supplying Melissa Etheridge with some sweet, sweet elixir)

In 2001
The classic rock collective Voices of Classic Rock kicked off a benefit concert series at the Universal CityWalk at Universal Orlando in Orlando, Florida.  The concerts were fundraisers for the American Red Cross and the USO.  Atlanta Rhythm Section's Ronnie Hammond played the first show.

In 2002
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed on the season opener of NBC's "Saturday Night Live."

In 2003
Ted Nugent's reality show "Surviving Nugent" made its debut on VH1.  (I can't believe we survived that)

In 2004
Mark David Chapman, who is serving a 20-years-to-life sentence in New York's Attica Correctional Facility for the 1980 shooting death of former Beatle John Lennon, was denied release when he went before a parole board.  It was his third attempt to regain his freedom since 2000.

The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Van Morrison, and Pete Townshend were among the honorees at the 2004 BMI Awards in London.

In 2005
Pearl Jam and Robert Plant and the Strange Sensations were among the performers at the one-thousand-dollars-a-ticket fundraiser supporting the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and the Jazz Foundation of America.  The special show took place at the House of Blues in Chicago.

In 2006
Bon Jovi's Jon Bon Jovi teamed up with former President Bill Clinton to announce a major housing development project in North Philadelphia.

Word surfaced that Jimmy Buffett had been detained by French customs officials, who claimed he was carrying more than 100 Ecstacy pills.  The veteran performer denied the allegation, saying he had vitamins and prescription medications, but he still paid the 380-dollar fine.

The Beatles' movie "A Hard Day's Night" was named a landmark film by the UK's "Radio Times Guide to Films 2007."

In 2008
Bruce Springsteen performed at Ohio State University as part of a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

In 2011
Martin Scorsese's two-part documentary "George Harrison: Living in the Material World" had its broadcast debut on HBO
