Floral Avenue Pool Now Open Following $200,000 Repair Project
It took a bit longer than expected but the swimming pool in Johnson City's Floral Avenue Park has opened after a renovation and repair project.
Mayor Greg Deemie said the pool in the park on the village's South Side went into operation on Saturday.
The pool initially was expected to open for the Memorial Day weekend but a few finishing touches remained to be done.
Deemie said the pool initially will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays and from noon to 6 p.m. on weekends. He said operating hours will be extended starting July 1 when the parks department will be fully staffed for summer.
Signs indicate the pool's capacity will be limited to 60 people due to social distancing guidelines.
The $200,000 renovation project was performed by 21st Century Pools & Spas of Vestal.
