Five Days Until The Most Wonderful Day Of The Year
I have a digital countdown clock that sits just underneath my computer monitor in my work office. I reminds me two things a year. One - how many day to camping season and Two - how many days left of camping season.
Each consists of six months.That's how long my campground is open and the same amount of months the campground is closed. Those closed months are the worst of course. Waiting it out through the winter season isn't my idea of fun.
As of today (Monday April 26th), there are 5 days left until camping season begins on May 1st, and I could not be more excited. I've begun packing up my van with stuff that needs to go to the campground. I've got a lot of things to bring to camp, including my new pellet grill. I can't wait to try it out.
I bought some new camp chairs that need to be broken in, and there's other necessities, like batteries for my travel trailer, lawn mower and golf cart. Oh yeah, I bought a new golf cart. Well, new to me. Instead of driving a 35 year old golf cart, I will be driving one that's only 30 years old. I'm moving on up!
The first two days camp is open, I spend the time on my own. No wife, no dogs. It's not an evil thing, it's just that those two days give me time to get everything opened up and put in place so everything is set to bring them all down to camp. It will take about two days to set it all up.
Sure, I'll admit that there may be time spent at some of my camp friend's sites, sitting around a nice evening campfire, sipping on a few cold brews. I've got to catch up what they've been up to for the past six months. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
The next six months, I will be so happy. I'm ready cam season and the summer of 2021. Let's get it on.
