While people have been tossing around the term 'staycation' for a while now, they're really becoming more and more popular with the increased gas prices and people trying to save money in general.

If you're not familiar with what a staycation is, Dictionary.com describes it as "a vacation spent at home or near home, doing enjoyable activities or visiting local attractions."

If a staycation is on your agenda this summer and if you're hunting for things to do that will take you just a little bit away from home, but not too far that you can't get back on the same day, then the Finger Lakes Cheese Festival sounds perfect for you!

The Finger Lakes Cheese Festival is put on by the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance, which is a group of ten Finger Lakes area cheesemakers who are on a mission to educate people about local cheese making and cheeses.

The Finger Lakes Cheese Festival will be held on Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sunset View Creamery in Odessa which is just outside of Watkins Glen.

The Finger Lakes Cheese Festival will feature local farms and vendors who will be sampling and selling, along with some wineries and breweries! Live music will be performed all day and there will be events for everyone in the family. Oh, and the Finger Lakes Cheese Festival truly is an event everyone in the family can enjoy- including your dog (as long as they're on a leash.

Be sure to get your tickets in advance and remember that this is a rain or shine event, so no refunds will be given.
