First Endicott, New York Police Department K9 Passes Away
It's such a sad moment when one of our pets passes away. Unfortunately, dogs, cats, and other pets don't live anywhere as long as we wish they could. I've experienced it more times than I can count, but as long as I'm able to care for a dog (or dogs in my case), I will continue to adopt.

Many dogs also have jobs, and some are also used in law enforcement. They are trained for many things including finding crime scene evidence, drugs, explosives, locating missing persons, and attacking criminals.
Recently the Endicott Police Department paid tribute on their Facebook page to K9 Tarah. She was the first K9 for the department and passed away on August 15, 2022. She was with the Endicott Police Department from 2008 to 2020, and then the Owego Police Department from 2020 to 2022.
Tarah was involved in many ways including tracking violent suspects and narcotics detections, locating missing persons, and being an ambassador for the police departments she served.
According to the Endicott Police Department Facebook page, Tarah was responsible for close to 900 arrests during her time in Endicott and Owego. She was involved in assisting in police matters outside of Endicott and Owego as well.
Some of the things Tarah was a part of, included locating a person man with dementia outside in -2 degrees with wind chill, finding a person wanted in connection with a homicide, and the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Unit for a narcotics scan.
Read more about Tarah and her many accomplishments on the Endicott Police Department Facebook page. K9 Tarah, born November 17, 2007 - End Of Watch August 15, 2022.
