Get filtering software - Put it on all your home PCs and your kid's phones. Keep an eye out for any suspicious apps and get to know their icons.

If you find something, don't panic - Ask your child in a calm manner why they like that particular app. This is a really good way to find out their understanding of the app and their understanding of safety. The more YOU listen to them, the more YOU"LL learn.

When they are finished telling you, then explain why you don't like the app and why it isn't safe for them. Watch them as they delete it.

Stay with it - Set up a family account for app downloads and keep the passwords secret. This way, your kids will have to let you know what they are downloading.

When the opportunity arises, mention risky apps - When you hear about an app that could be a safety risk, mention it causally during dinner or while riding in the car. This lets them know that your aware of it without sounding like your intruding.
