Teams have all completed game one of the NBA playoffs and its already apparent that there will be upsets in this first round.

Game one saw big numbers from many players, but not all of them came out of it with a “W” Three of the lower seeded teams came away with victories last night.

Portland squeaked into the playoffs as the number eight seed, and took care of the number one seed LA Lakers, Damian Lillard was on his game with 34 points, and even with LeBron’s triple double, and the Brows 28 points, it wasn’t enough to defeat Portland, who took game one 100-93.

Milwaukee has been on a tear throughout the regular season but have had some sets backs, one of those coming last night another number eight seed showed they are formattable foes, another career high playoff moment, this time from Nikola Vucevic who put up 35 along with 14 boards as the Orlando Magic upset the number one seed Bucks 122-110.

The third upset of the night from another lower seeded team, the Miami Heat downing the Indiana Pacers, Jimmy Butler scored 28 points and his teammate Goran Dragic dropped in 24 to defeat the number four seed Pacers 113-101.

The Houston Rockets were the only team in yesterday's matchups that won on their "home court", James Harden and his beard put in 37 points along with 11 boards, and the Russell Westbrook-less Rockets took care of the OKC Thunder 123-108.

On Monday, Donovan Mitchell put up 57 points for the Jazz, but lost to the Denver Nuggets in overtime.

Fred VanVleet has a 30-point game and the NBA Champion Toronto Raptors lit it up from behind the arc in their spanking of the Brooklyn Nets 134-110.

Boston took care of business as Jayson Tatum had a career playoff high of 32 points and 13 rebounds in a 109-101 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Clippers had their weapons including Kawhi Leonard with his 29 points and 12 boards, Dallas had a really good nigh,t but in spite of 42 points from Luka Doncic, the Mavs lost 118-110.

My picks for the first round (and you may not agree):

  • Toronto will have no problem with the Nets
  • Portland will frustrate the Lakers and send them home.
  • Milwaukee will bounce back and knock off Orlando.
  • Miami looks really good I pick them to advance over the Pacers.
  • Houston will defeat the Thunder easily
  • I think Dallas will come back and defeat the Clippers.
  • The Celtics will send the 76ers out of the bubble
  • Denver will win their series with Utah.

That’s my picks we’ll revisit going into round two and see how many I have correctly predicted.
