Dollar General Dedicates First Hour of Store Opening to Seniors

While so much uncertainty surrounds the Coronavirus global pandemic, one of the things we've heard over and over is that our senior citizens are at greatest risk of grave consequences as a result of contracting the virus.

In a statement released on Monday, Dollar General announced that they would be shutting their stores an hour early to "to allow employees to clean and re-stock store shelves, as well as for their health and wellbeing."

Additionally, Dollar General announced an initiative that will allow seniors to shop their stores an hour before others in an attempt to help them, "avoid busier and more crowded shopping periods." According to the CDC, people aged 60 and older are most vulnerable to coronavirus.

Todd Vasos, CEO of Dollar General said, "We appreciate our customers’ understanding of our decision and request they visit our stores later in the morning to allow at-risk populations the ability to purchase the items they need at affordable prices."
