The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation lists the deer, black bear and other hunting seasons on its website.  The regular big game season for deer in our area runs November 16 through December 8.

Hunters are reminded to brush up on safety procedures, rules and tagging regulations, check equipment and always wear blaze orange to be visible to other hunters.

Motorists should be aware that, in addition to the normal increase in deer activity at sunrise and sunset this time of year, the animals will be stirred up by hunters starting this weekend and there could be more encounters with deer on and near roadways.
