Residents and workers at a Binghamton nursing home are about to receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing at 159 Front Street has announced that the facility will administer the first doses of the vaccine on Tuesday.

A news release issued Monday afternoon did not indicate how many people are expected to receive the immunization.

According to the statement issued by the facility, "after nine difficult months" Tuesday will be "a day worthy of celebration" at Bridgewater.

Broome County officials in May and October said the Bridgewater nursing home was designated as a coronavirus "hotspot" because of positive Covid-19 cases among residents and employees.

The number of positive cases at the facility has not been made public.
