Committee Takes Final Steps Toward Broome Legislature Redistricting
One of the was scheduled to take place December 28.
The Ad Hoc Committee on Redistricting held a public hearing on the proposals for the new maps December 27 and set to meet again at 5:15 p.m. December 28 via video-conference.
The committee has come up with several map options submitted by members. The group is made up of representatives of both political parties as well as community leaders, business officials and select members of the public.
The new district maps will be used for the 2022 general election but take effect on January 1, 2023.

The legislative districts are being redrawn based on the 2020 Census data to better reflect the makeup of the county population when considering political representation.
