This week in 1973, a monster song was atop the US singles charts, at least for a week until love knocked it off.

That song was Edgar Winter's 'Frankenstein.' Recorded in February 1973, this instrumental came from the album 'They Only Come Out At Night.' Edgar played several instruments on the song, including a keyboard instrument strapped around his neck. 'Frankenstein' sold over one million copies

A bit of trivia - The 'B' side of the 45 contained the song 'Undercover Man', and the song that knocked off "Frankenstein the next week, was Paul McCartney's 'My Love.'
