Preparations have been going on for some time now to make way for a new roof at the Syracuse University Carrier Dome.

This morning, the inflatable roof was, well, deflated. According to localsyr.com, it took about 45 minutes for the roof to go from proud to deflated. Check out the video that the website put up with the dome being deflated sped up, and in real time:

The new roof will be solid and should be completed sometime early this fall. Localsyr.com states that between 50 and 200 workers are a part of the project.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new roof when it's completed. Although the inflatable roof was ahead of its time when the Carrier Dome was constructed, it was time to make the change for many reasons.

If you are like me, you've been to the dome to see plenty of sporting and concert events. It will be interesting to see if the new roof will have any type of difference in terms of accoustics.

And you won't get blown through the revolving doors anymore, although I kind of found that to be fun.
