Broome County has lost two more residents to the COVID-19 pandemic and added 95 cases to its coronavirus tally.  Broome now has 388 fatalities to-date and a total of 23,180 cases.

Chenango County now records 4,500 cases with the addition of 81 over the long holiday weekend while Cortland County has passed 6,000 with the October 12 update reporting a total of 6,032 since the start of the pandemic.

Delaware County updates its data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but had no update Monday, October 11 due to the federal holiday.

Tioga County added 11 cases in the October 12 update for a total of 4,845.

Broome was the only county in the Southern Tier reporting new deaths.  Of the new cases in Broome County, 24.8% are so-called breakthrough cases in people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19. That is up slightly from reports over the past few days that have put the percent of cases in the vaccinated at 24.4%.
