Representative Anthony Brindisi says the federal government has been too slow in expanding testing for the coronavirus.

The Oneida County Democrat who represents New York's 22nd Congressional District said he is "not impressed with the administration's response to this epidemic."

Speaking from Washington on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Thursday, Brindisi said he hopes Congress can act quickly to ensure that free testing will be available to "everyone who needs a test including people who are uninsured."

Brindisi said public tours of the Capitol have been suspended because of concerns related to COVID-19. New rules are in place pertaining to all visitors.

Brindisi said the coronavirus threat must be taken seriously. He said President Trump should listen to health care professionals and scientists to "implement policies and procedures and show leadership during this time of crisis."
