My Sister-In-Law loves to be different when it comes to giving gifts.
Christmas time is always exciting because she is a master of creative gift giving.
It could be an unusual type of wrapping paper or lack of it, theme (one year it was office supplies - colorful paper clips, pens, pencils, etc.) or something she knows I don't really need, but knows I will get a kick out of it.
I do get the usual supply of socks (always need them) and handkerchiefs (can't have too many) for Christmas, but for my birthday, she usually gives me cash (best. present. ever.)
But I'm not talking the green stuff, I mean coins only.
Rolled coins.
Lots of them...in quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies.
Now, I'm not complaining, money is money, no matter what the type, and the more the merrier!
But, walking into the bank with a bag of several, heavy, bulky, clunky (and any other adjective you can think of), rolled coins to be deposited, feels , well, not embarrassing, but kind of weird, at least for me.
And to top it off, it's not an even amount, say 40 dollars...it's more like 41 dollars and 50 cents.
It took the teller a couple of time to calculate the right amount.
That was funny!
But in the end, I'm grateful to my sister-in-law for her creativity (and the cash) as a birthday present...it could have been just a tie!
What kind of unusual gifts have you received?
