The City of Binghamton is making its single largest investment in young people with development of a $4-5 million youth and community center at Columbus Park.

A public survey to collect input on programs and amenities for the new center went online May 5 at surveymonkey.com/r/GM876YL and the first public meeting is scheduled for May 19 to be held virtually.

Binghamton City Council approved a professional services agreement with C-P-L of Binghamton for the architectural, engineering and design services for the project on April 19.

The City has secured $1.1 million Federal Community Development Block Grant funding for design and construction costs while the Community Foundation for South Central New York is steering fundraising for the project.

Initial plans are a calling for the community center to include a gymnasium, community rooms, a commercial kitchen, locker area, and offices as well as improvements to Columbus Park on Carroll Street.
