A veteran Broome County car dealer has announced his retirement and the sale of the business.

Michael Corey, the president of Jack Sherman Toyota in Binghamton, has advised customers in an email of the ownership change.

Corey's message said the dealership will become Williams Toyota of Binghamton.

The Court Street operation will become part of Williams Auto Group based in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Corey said the new owners will continue to provide the same level of service that customers have been "accustomed to for the last 50 plus years we've existed."

Corey noted Williams Auto Group has "plenty of experience running their dealerships" in the Sayre and Elmira areas.

Corey and Williams representatives have not been available in recent days to comment on the sale.

The "Jack Sherman" name first appeared at a Binghamton car dealership in 1927. The business originally was located downtown on State Street.
