Binghamton Restaurant Week continues through Thursday April 14th. It's your opportunity to sample great tastes from many Binghamton restaurants. Each establishment has designed a special menu, representing some of their signature dishes.

You'll find either 2, 3 or 4 course designed lunches and/or dinners from each restaurant, and it is a great way to try a new place, or restaurant you may know of, but never stopped in to try out what they have to offer.

Kathy Whyte and I were fortunate enough to be invited to visit one one of the Binghamton Restaurant Week participants - Muffer's Soulful Kitchen last Wednesday. A new restaurant, it's easy to find on Glenwood Avenue. Parking is available on the street and on the side of the building.

A huge blackboard lists the entire menu and the restaurant week menu is on the counter, which is where you place your order. There's plenty of places to sit and the staff is very friendly. Dinner consists of 3 course dinner options. For the appetizer, Kathy and I both chose the beer battered Fried Mixed Vegetables. Excellent choice, especially with the Cajun Remoulade sauce to dip the vegetables in.

Kathy's main course choice was the Catfish Dinner along with two sides - baked mac & cheese and candied yams. The Catfish was moist as she likes it, and the mac & cheese is the best she's tasted! I ordered the Fried Chicken (also moist as I like it) along with candied yams (yum) and Collard Greens. I had always wanted to try them, and I'm glad I did. Really delicious! Oh yea, each meal comes with a large piece of Corn Bread.

At that point, we were stuffed but managed to take a few bites of the Sweet Potato Pie - a perfect way to top off an excellent meal at Muffer's Soulful Kitchen. That's what Binghamton Restaurant Week is all about - discovering new places and trying new foods!
