Binghamton Man Pleads Guilty to JC Walmart Robbery

Prosecutors say a man will be sentenced to eight years in prison after he admitted injuring an employee at the Johnson City Walmart store during a robbery.

According to the Broome County District Attorney's office, 20-year-old Davon Dozier-Gannaway of Binghamton has pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery.

Dozier-Gannaway was taken into custody by Binghamton police shortly after the January 24 incident at the Gannett Drive store.

Investigators had said the man threatened a store worker with scissors after he was confronted because he was suspected of being a shoplifter.

Dozier-Gannaway then is said to have punched another employee in the face, causing an injury.

In February, he was named in a six-count indictment. The charges included weapon possession, two counts of robbery and three counts of burglary.

Dozier-Gannaway is scheduled to be sentenced on July 13.
