Veterans Day activities are extending beyond Veterans Day in Broome County for some very special local veterans as the Binghamton Elks Lodge #70 in Kirkwood prepare to serve local veterans a free meal, a token of their appreciation for the men and women who so bravely served our nation.

The Veterans Appreciation Dinner will be held at the Binghamton Elks Lodge, 1309 Route 11 in Kirkwood on Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. To 7:00 p.m. Veterans will be treated to a spaghetti dinner which will include meatballs, salad, and dessert.

The Elks Club is a fraternal order with nearly a million members and nearly 2,000 lodges across the United States. The mission of the Elks is to, “inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America will serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.”

The Binghamton Elks Lodge #70 was formed in 1887 and has been serving Broome County from their present address since 1989.
