The New York State Liquor Authority issued an emergency suspension of the craft brewer's license on May 7 following allegations the place violated an order designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The alleged violations were investigated after city police filed charges against a Water Street Brewing co-owner and an employee in connection with an April 22 incident.

Police had said they found people drinking in the establishment late at night after a curfew that had been ordered by the Binghamton mayor.

An online statement posted by the business indicated the only people who were inside when police showed up were employees who had been working.

A State Liquor Authority Board spokesman said the agency accepted a conditional no contest offer "from the licensee of $10,000 to settle the charges" at a board meeting last Wendesday. He said the business paid the fine and the license was reactivated.

A co-owner Monday confirmed the business now is able to serve beer again but she declined to comment further on the matter.
