The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team sent shock waves throughout America East last night with an 83-79 upset of the Stony Brook Seawolves at Island Federal Arena on Long Island.  Binghamton KO'd the Seawolves last March in the America East quarterfinals in a stunning upset to end Stony Brook's season.  The Seawolves were a second-seed while the Bearcats were a seventh-seed.

Coming into last night's contest the Bearcats were 1-4 while the Seawolves were 4-1 in conference play.  Sam Sessoms keyed the Bearcats who led 40-35 at the half.  Sessoms scored a game-high 25 points, 16 of which came in the second half. Pierre Sarr also starred with a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds.  Richie Caldwell, Jr. and George Tinsley each netted 14 points.

Stony Brook's Elijah Oliniyi who is second in scoring in America East with a 19-point per game average was held scoreless in the first half by the Bearcat defense. He had a tremendous second half and ended the night with a team-high 20 points.

The Bearcats return home to meet the New Hampshire Wildcats at 4:00 PM on Saturday.  The BU women travel to Durham to face the Wildcats in a 1:00 start. Both games will be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
