An Apalachin restaurant resumed operations following an electrical issue.

The Perkins Restaurant and Bakery on Route 434 closed Monday evening due to an apparent transformer problem. The business reopened early Tuesday afternoon.

The restaurant and the neighboring Comfort Inn hotel were without electricity for an extended period.

Restaurant owner Beth Ann Smith said this wasn't the first time there have been electrical problems at the business, which opened in July 2017.

Smith said there have been "repeated problems with the transformers" serving the restaurant.

Additional electrical work is planned at the site. Smith said she doesn't know whether the restaurant will have to be closed for future work planned by NYSEG. In an email statement, she wrote: "If this requires a few hours of electrical outage, then this will be announced."

Smith said a weather-related power outage affected the Perkins restaurant a few weeks ago.
