Four All-Stars participating in today's (Thursday's) Jim "Mudcat" Grant All-Star Golf Tournament at the Links at Hiawatha Landing made a visit to WNBF's Morning Show before they hit the golf course.

Security Mutual Life President and CEO Bruce Boyea whose company organizes the tournament each year stopped by as did Vern Law, Ferguson Jenkins, Al Downing and John Schmitt.  All four have made numerous appearances in "Mudcat's" tournament.

Vern Law won the Cy Young Award in the National League when he went 20-9 and helped his Pittsburgh Pirates defeat the New York Yankees in the 1960 World
Series.

Ferguson Jenkins became the first Canadian to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  He earned 20 or more victories in six consecutive seasons and played for four Major League teams.

Al Downing went 9-1 with the Binghamton Triplets in the early 1960's before being promoted to the New York Yankees.  He was named to the American League All-Star team in 1967.  He is a member of the Binghamton Baseball Shrine.

John Schmitt played his college football at Hofstra and joined the New York Jets as a free agent.  He spent a decade in the NFL as a starting center.  He earned All-Pro honors and was named a captain for the Jets.  He was a starter on the Jets when they defeated the Baltimore Colts to win the first Super Bowl Championship.

The Jim "Mudcat" Grant All-Star Golf Tournament raises money for the Broome County Urban League, Catholic Charities, CHOW and The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton.  Additional fundraising during the tournament benefits homeless veterans.
