The Contest will begin with five “Preliminary Parties” on 2/10/17, 2/17/17, 2/24/17, 3/3/17 and 3/10/17.
The Contest will not be conducted on 3/17/17.
The Contest will resume on 3/24/17 and will culminate on 5/26/17.
How to enter
On 2/10 people will register to have a chance to sing one song. Up to 50 people will be selected to sing on 2/10. Anyone who registers and does not sing on 2/10 will be in the first group of names to have a chance to sing on 2/17. On 2/17, once all of the remaining names from 2/10 have had an opportunity to sing, names will begin to be drawn from new entries. Up to 50 people will sing on 2/17. On 2/24, 3/3 and 3/10 the same formula will be used – drawing from the leftover names first and then drawing from new registrations. At the end of each Preliminary Party one person will be awarded $100 cash from Touch of Texas based on audience acclimation. That person will also automatically become one of the 45 Contestants.
Each week Touch Of Texas employees will sort the singers into two groups – (1) those who will possibly become Contestants, and (2) those who will not become Contestants. The singers will not be told which group they are going into.
On 3/24 everyone who has sung in one of the five Preliminary Parties will be invited to attend. 40 Contestants will be drawn from the “possible contestant” group to perform in front of the judges, along with the five Preliminary Party winners. The judges will each pick 15 of the contestants to be on their “Team”. There won’t be any voting this first week to give us time to get the website built and be ready for 3/31 when all 45 people will sing again.
On 3/31 the judges will give each of the 45 contestants a score of 1-10. The three judges’ scores will be added together and this number will be added to the on-line voting to give each contestant a score for that week. On 4/7 the bottom five contestants from the previous week will be eliminated and the remaining 40 will sing. The scoring/voting will continue in the same fashion each week.
On 4/7 40 people will sing
On 4/14 35 people will sing
On 4/21 30 people will sing
On 4/28 25 people will sing
On 5/5 20 people will sing
On 5/12 15 people will sing
On 5/19 10 people will sing
On 5/26 the 10 people from 5/19 will all perform again in reverse order based on the voting from 5/20-5/25. We will announce person #10 and they will sing a song, then we will announce person #9 and they will sing, then #8 etc. until we’re down to the winner.
The weekly voting will begin at 8am on the Saturday following the Friday performances and will conclude at 12pm (noon) that Thursday. For example – Contestants perform on Friday 3/31/17. Voting begins at 8am on Saturday 4/1/17. Voting ends on Thursday 4/6/17 and that week’s results are announced on Friday 4/7/17.
During the singing on 3/24 the judges will not be facing the contestants as they sing. Each judge will claim 15 contestants to be on their team. Each judge will have a charity that they are supporting. The charity will provide a substitute in the event that the judge is not be available for a specific week. At the end of the competition the charity that was represented by the winning team’s judge will receive a cash donation of $500 from Touch of Texas.
