Which Stores Will Be Closed Thanksgiving Day?
I'm sure you've heard about the growing trend over the last few years where retail stores open their doors on Thanksgiving so that bargain hunters can get an early start on Christmas shopping. While many bargain shoppers might love the head start on stocking up on deals, even more lots of people think that Thanksgiving is a day that should be spent with friends and family, not shopping and it would appear that retailers are starting to adopt that mentality.
There's no doubt that the public backlash to stores opening on Thanksgiving has had a major impact on stores deciding whether or not to open on Thanksgiving day.
As of yesterday, there were 57 stores nationwide who confirmed that their doors will remain shut on Thanksgiving day and that those wishing to scoop up Black Friday deals will be welcome to do so...on Black Friday.
Among the stores closed on Thanksgiving are: Barnes & Noble, Burlington Coat Factory, GameStop, Home Depot, HomeGoods, Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores, Lowe’s, PetSmart, Pier 1 Imports, Raymour and Flanagan Furniture, Sam’s Club, Staples, T.J. Maxx, and Tractor Supply. If you’d like to see the complete list of all the stores who’ve announced so far that they’ll be closed on Thanksgiving, you can grab it here.
