With the colder weather, comes pre-Holiday community events. This weekend, they ramp up. Enjoy all kinds of food and shopping in the Southern Tier this weekend!

The Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main Street in Vestal, has their Biennial Rug Show, Sponsored by the VUMC Red Bird Mission Circle. today from 10am to 7pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Rugs and other hooked pieces by over 50 Members.

The Endicott Elks Friday night dinner features meat loaf along with the regular menu items. Serving from 5 to 7 pm.

St. Mary's in Kirkwood, 975 NY Rte. 11, has there Annual Harvest Supper, Saturday  from 4pm to 7:30pm. There will be Halupki, Ham and all the trimmings. Also homemade pies, prizes and raffle tickets.

Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street in Binghamton, hosts the Tri-Cities Opera as they perform The Three Little Pigs, Saturday at 2:30pm.

Choconut Center U.M.C., corner of Airport and Lewis Roads in Binghamton, is having a Harvest Supper, with turkey and all the trimmings plus home made pie for dessert on Saturday at 4:30pm.

Union Endicott Office Personnel Association and Jennie F. Snapp Middle School, 101 Loder Avenue in Endicott are holding a craft show on Saturday from 9am to 3pm with over 75 crafters, food beverages and 50/50 raffle. Holiday shopping anyone?

The Village of Oxford Fire Department Auxiliary is sponsoring their Harvest Dinner at the fire company, with roast beef and the trimmings on Saturday from 5 to 7 pm.

All Saints Church, 42 Harry L. Drive in JC, is hosting a casino/turkey party on Saturday from 5 to 8:30 pm. No minors.

The Holiday spirit is building at Harpersville United Methodist Church with their turkey dinner on Saturday from 4:30 to 7 pm.

Check out the Country Store Bazaar at the Nimmonsburg UMC, 918 Upper Front Street in Binghamton, on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. There will be handmade items, gifts and porcelain dolls.

More shopping! The North Fenton United Methodist Church is having an Election Day Bazaar on Tuesday from 11 am to 7 pm. There will be crafts, food and a bake sale.

On Sunday, stop by the Round Hill Masonic Center, 403 East Main Street in Endicott, for a roast beef dinner from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Yes, takeouts are available!

More holidays spirit can be found at the Maine American Legion on Route 26, as they host a turkey party on Saturday at 7 pm. Minors are not allowed.

On Saturday, pause to remember local heroes as the 4th annual Civil War Veterans Memorial Illumination takes place from 6 to 9 pm at: Chenango Valley Cemetery in Hillcrest, Conklin Cemetery on Carlin Rd., Floral Park Cemetery, Spring Forest Cemetery on Mygatt St.  For info please see www.nycivilwar.us.

Looking ahead to Thursday, the Harlem Superstars Comedy Basketball Team will play in a game at Owego Free Academy's gym against the Candor Fire Company All-Stars at 6:30 pm. Proceeds go to Owego Apalachin Dollars for Scholars.
