With all the shark sightings in the news lately and this being the 40th anniversary of the movie "Jaws", I thought I would shark some shark info.

This would be particularly important info too, since it's about what sharks are attracted to and why they attack.

They attack because they are hungry and because you happen to be there. And because you happen to be wearing or are near a color they find quite delicious. So here are the specifics.

1. Don't swim at dawn or dusk or after dark. That is prime shark feeding time. Since they can't see and rely on smell, you are just a tasty seal morsel to them.

2. Do not go swimming with an open wound. Sharks can smell blood, one single drop by the way, over 3 miles away!

3. When sharks attack, it is mostly because you are a seal to them. They love seal.

4. Most attack victims survive because the sharks recognize they made a mistake and release them.

5. Sharks love the color yellow, that is mostly found on rescue rafts, bathing suits, flotation devices and water toys. Yes, the color makes it easier for us to see the object, but to sharks it is a sign of food. Shark researchers call it "yum yum yellow." So, yellow should be avoided! My car is yellow. Huh.
