A few weeks ago, a couple co-workers and I had an opportunity to speak with a local ghost hunter and visit a hotel and B&B with some amazing history in Greene, NY.

Bill Lenga is a local ghost hunter and investigator, who has spent many years visiting places in and around the Greene area, along with many places in the country in a search for ghosts.

I have never been much of a believer, but I don't discount the idea that ghosts may exist. I look at it as an opportunity to learn and be open-minded about things I don't understand.

During our meeting with Bill, he answered many questions about types of Ghosts, signals of hauntings and places he has visited where sightings have occurred.

Some types of ghosts he described to us, included Orbs, Vortex, Ecto and Apparition.
Orbs are the most common form of ghosts, Vortex can take on three forms, Ecto is a spirit energy form that looks like a mist or fog, and an Apparition is a spirit energy form in the shape of a person or animal.

Bill took us on a tour of the Sherwood Hotel, detailing the history of the building and sightings of the past. He uses various ghost hunting equipment to assist in identifying their presence.

We then toured the 1810 Juliand House, a local Greene Bed and Breakfast. This B&B is a beautiful home with an amazing history, including being a part of the Underground Railroad. One of the owners, Claudia, spoke about the very interesting history of the home, including it's past owners and some of the important roles it played in the history of the Town of Greene.

We spent a few hours on this two part tour, and learned quite a bit about the history of Greene, ghosts and ghost hunting. Many thanks to Bill and Claudia for their hospitality and history lesson! Take a look at some of the video we shot to see more of what our tour was like.
