99.1 The Whale is once again on a mission to help the community.

As you may know, a year after the Southern Tier was hit by Tropical Storm Lee, many local families are sill struggling to get back on their feet. C.H.O.W.'s food bank has been fighting to keep up with demand.

Since this is the time of year where giving is the thing to do, we need your help! We are kicking of Food-A-Bago in the Weis Market parking lot on Upper Front Street (across from the I-81 ramp) on Monday morning at 5 am.

Yep, 5 am! I will be there every day from 5 to 10 am broadcasting live. We will man the RV, from Jim's RV of Nichols, throughout the week until Monday the 12th. Once again, our goal is to fill up the RV so I have no place to stand.

We are accepting non-perishable food. Even if you can only donate a small amount, it means you care. Luckily, Wesi and other grocery stores have many non-perishables on sale, so that helps too.

Getting a food drive together with friends, family and co-workers is a great way to help. Your neighborhood can even donate. The need is great but our hearts in the Southern Tier are greater!

If you have struggled at one point in your life, you know what this means to families that are hurting. I remember a time when I lived on mac and cheese and spaghetti. I have seen friends go through hard times. And I have seen strangers desperate. This is my motivation. I want to give everyone in our community a ray of hope.

Please share this blog and spread the wrod so anyone and everyone can help. Our sister station, Wild 104, is also donating their time. And even our friends at Tall Pine Farm Stoves and Fireplaces are supporting our effort.

But we can't do it without you.

See you at Food-A-Bago!
