I will never forget sneaking into my brother Frank's room on Saturday nights to watch Saturday Night Live. We weren't allowed to watch, but that didn't stop us from watching.

 

I was in on the ground floor of what started as rebellion and became an institution. That first cast will always be my sentimental favorite, but look at who the show cultivated over the years. Bill Murray, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Will Ferrell, Dennis Miller, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler. You get the gist.

After the 5th year, the show was almost axed, then two more times in it's history. Somehow, it survived Lorne Michaels leaving (thank God he came back!) and the exit of some of its biggest stars. No other show could make it through those changes.

To this day we still repeat many of the catch phrases. I have to admit that "Jane you ignorant slut" is my favorite!
