Lou Gramm Sings National Anthem at Minor-League Game

Hometown hero Lou Gramm made an appearance in Rochester, N.Y. on Friday (July 26) to sing the national anthem before the town’s AAA ball club attempted to solidify its hold on a wild-card playoff spot.

Gramm was also on hand to sell and sign copies of his recently released memoir, ‘Juke Box Hero: My Five Decades in Rock ‘n’ Roll,’ which details the ups and downs of his career, both as a solo artist and as the frontman for Foreigner during the group’s wildly successful string of albums throughout the ’70s and ’80s. The book also chronicles his personal struggles, including the brain tumor that nearly killed him during the ’90s.

The memoir comes during a busy period for Gramm, who’s kept a low profile over the past few years. Earlier this summer, he reunited with his former Foreigner partner Mick Jones for a one-off awards show performance, and more recently he announced plans to hit the road for a North American tour that’s scheduled to last into October.

As for the Rochester Red Wings? Perhaps Gramm’s rendition of the national anthem (which you can watch above) gave them an extra bit of luck. The team, which has been surging through the standings since dropping to 11 games out of first place earlier this season, defeated the Norfolk Tides 5-2 to claim the lead in their division’s wild-card race.
