Intense Solar Flare Activity Could Interrupt Our Lives

I am a weather geek, but I had no idea that the National Weather Service had a Space Prediction Center. One of its purposes is, with NASA, to keep track of solar flare activity.

Apparently there is a region on the sun which is creating major solar flare activity that scientists are closely monitoring. There were 3 very big flares yesterday, each bigger than the last. They are concerned that if this exploding area rotates towards the earth it will cause large disruptions in our "modern" life.

It could also impact our weather or increase seismic activity. Huh! I didn't know that either! Well, this could suck. Check out the video of the flare activity.
